Privacy Policy
Clipdrop is a video hosting service. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, where it is stored, and how it is used.
What We Collect at Signup
When you create an account, we collect and store:
- Your email address and display name
- A hashed (bcrypt) version of your password - your actual password is never stored
- Your IP address at the time of signup
- Your browser's user agent string at the time of signup
- The date and time you created your account
What We Collect When You Use the Service
- Videos and files you upload, including their size, title, and upload timestamp
- Your IP address may appear in server logs when you upload or access content
- View counts on your videos
- IP addresses of signed-in users who watch videos, logged to prevent view fraud and abuse
- Your storage usage and subscription plan
Cookies
We use a single session cookie (file_session) to keep you logged in. No tracking or advertising cookies are used. Your display theme preference (light/dark) is stored in a separate cookie on your device only.
Where Your Data Is Stored
- Account data (email, password hash, IP, plan, etc.) is stored in a SQLite database on our server and backed up to Cloudflare R2 object storage
- Uploaded videos are stored on Cloudflare R2 object storage
- Backups are encrypted in transit via HTTPS
Third-Party Services
- Stripe - processes all payments. We never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
- Cloudflare R2 - stores your uploaded videos and database backups
- Brevo - delivers transactional emails (verification codes, password resets)
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties.
Video Links
Videos you upload are accessible via a unique short link (e.g. clipdrop.xyz/v/abc12345). Anyone with that link can view the video. We do not make video links publicly discoverable, but you are responsible for who you share links with.
Data Retention
- Videos are automatically deleted after their expiry period (7 days for Free, 30 days for Pro/Creator, 90 days for Studio), unless extended
- Your account data is retained until you delete your account
- Server logs may be retained for up to 30 days for security purposes
Your Rights
You can delete your account and all associated videos at any time from your Settings page. This permanently removes your data from our systems. For any other requests, email support@clipdrop.xyz.
